Life Sciences Internships and Job Openings
- If you’re searching for summer internships, look under the “Internships” column. Most deadlines are in Fall and Winter quarters for the following Summer. Every company is different, so be sure to check out many or all links.
- If you’re searching for full-time employment (FTE) after graduation, look under the “Jobs” column. Some of those websites have “Early Career” tabs, which might be helpful for you to click on and browse the opportunities. For most of these websites, you can filter by your area of interest, as most of these companies have job openings beyond the hard sciences.
- If you don’t see jobs or internships available or that you qualify for at the companies you’re interested in, you can send a “cold email” to the email address or contact website listed in the “Contact” column expressing your interest in an internship. Many of the companies below are start-ups and might be receptive to an inquiry like this.
- This list of employers was compiled from the 2020 San Diego Business Journal Book of Lists, which highlighted the top San Diego life sciences companies and startups. The list also includes national and global companies that UC San Diego partners with regularly for student recruitment and programs such as career fairs. It is not an extensive list of all life sciences companies, so don’t rely on this document as your only job search resource. Continue to do your own job search research on platforms such as Handshake, LinkedIn (jobs tab) and Indeed.
